there are passages in the music that are evocative of hair note wise etc
i think very much johnathan was trying to emulate hair in part
i dont see anythign wrong with that
and in fact applaud it
eg there are not enough musicals in contemporary idioms
be they rock hip hop etc

we all have different takes on things
for me personally having a boheme adaptation sketched out on the back burner
my choice would be to set in harlem ( which is the new greenwhich village here in nyc in a sense )
in the future ( say about ten yars from now )
and to keep the puccini music but to play it with a rock and roll band
new english lyrics etc
that would be my choice
