"Study: TV, Personal Computer Usage Varies Among Minorities"

A new study put out by Menlo Park, Calif.-based Knowledge Networks
indicates African American and Hispanic households tune in differently
to their TVs and computers. African Americans have more TVs and larger
sets compared to Hispanic or white families, but when it comes to PCs
and broadband Internet access, African American and Hispanic households
still lag behind white peers. 
The report found that 62 percent of African American homes had more than
two TVs, compared to 51 percent of white and 44 percent of Hispanic
households. About 49 percent of African American homes have TVs larger
than 30 inches, compared to 44 percent of white and 41 percent of
Hispanic homes. 
When it comes to computers, the numbers reverse, with 70 percent of
white households owning a home computer compared to 55 percent of
African American households and 47 percent of Hispanic homes. The
difference in percentage of broadband Internet service among the
households also is dramatic, with 30 percent of white families linking
to high-speed service, compared to just 19 percent of African American
and 16 percent of Hispanic homes.
