Community Labor United - CLU: a coalition of community groups that for 9 years
has worked in what are now the hardest-hit neighborhoods of New Orleans and 
is calling for grassroots oversight of the relief process, while 
federal funds are funneled into  rebuilding casinos, hotels,

The Katrina Information Network (KIN) serves as an information and 
ACTION clearinghouse with voices and organizations from the communities 
that have been devastated by Katrina. They stand for Real Relief and A 
Just Recovery. Their site is:

Veterans for Peace are collecting and delivering things like baby items, 
water, cleaning supplies,canned goods and getting them to the people who 
need them in the New Orleans area.

Louisiana Local Aid Project (LLAP) of Western Mass
To relieve and support rural towns in Western Louisiana,
checks can be made out to Katrina Fund, Hibernia National Bank, 919 Main St, 
Elton,LA 70532. This is a local effort of Western Massachusetts residents 
to help small towns in Western Louisiana that have taken in large numbers 
of evacuees from Katrina. Elaine Ulman of W Mass has relatives living in 
this area and is in direct contact with what the schools and evacuees need. 
Western Mass is also sending down volunteers to help.

We've got to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf coast from the bottom up 
because Halliburton 
and FEMA are doing it top down. Just imagine - Karl Rove is in charge of 
this reconstruction! See the Common Dreams article (from the Washington Times)

Big Easy". This is just the tip of the iceberg regarding what the Bush administration 
has in store for New Orleans and the Gulf Area. bThere's a lot at stake here.
