Subject: RE: I understand....
[Peterson, Carlene] Opps. I missed this part last e-mail. The
Medicare and Medicaid programs are REALLY what are what we should be
focusing on...they are the programs with dire problems RIGHT NOW. Not
a word about that issue from the conservatives. Missouri will be
completely phasing out their Medicaid program over the next few years,
putting 1,000,000 more people on the uninsured roster--no health
coverage of any kind for 1,000,000 more people--those are the poorest
of the poor. Because the government can't afford to maintain Medicaid
in that State...yet it would cost less to maintain than ONE-HALF the
amount we've paid to Halliburton so far for "rebuilding Iraq after
we've destroyed it."[Peterson, Carlene] Again, I think we need to
address these problems - but one of the ways is to get rid of some of
millions of illegals in our country. I heard a story about (I think
in Ohio - may have been Missouri) or one of those states back east
where most of their factory jobs have been taken over by illegals.
It's so Mr.. Big business man can get a little cheaper labor. The
owners know full well that they have hired illegals. None of them
speak English and the owners don't look too close at their papers.
Let's get rid of some of these problems and take our country back - I
believe a lot of things would get better. Pay a fair wage and get
Americans working, get medical costs in line. Not let the special
interest groups win. We need to take back our country from all of
these factions. I agree that the rich are getting richer why the
little man keeps losing. We, the little man, need to fight against
that together. Not just try and fight programs, etc. We need to
fight to change laws and not take this stuff any more. We need to get
rid of EVERY politician who does not follow the will of the people -
but is being bought off.
Your "faction"--the right-wing Christian community--would
rather rail on and on about Gays, Abortion, "Radical" Judges (funnily
enough, some of whom are REPUBLICANS, if you look at those who
presided over the Terry Schaive lawsuits, oh dear!), "Liberal" Media,
etc., rather than rail on about the millions of people living in
poverty, disappearing Medicaid coverage, 45,000,000 uninsured
Americans, prescription drug coverage for the elderly and needy AND
MIDDLE CLASS, etc. Somehow, you're convinced that whether someone is
gay, or whether someone has an abortion is WAY MORE IMPORTANT AN ISSUE
TO ARGUE AND REGULATE AND FIGHT AGAINST than whether a person who
needs prescription medication to stay alive has to choose between
buying food or the medication. [Peterson, Carlene] I think we need
to fight against all of these things - but we are also not going to
quit fighting for morality either. Your "faction" as you put it
above, fights for what they believe in but somehow we right-wing
Christians, as you put it, are supposed to shut up. NOT!!!! We're
fighting just as hard as you guys are. No different. Just fighting
for different things. That's what I don't get. Somehow it's ok for
you to fight for what you believe in and be just as radical, and
judgmental, etc. as you say we are. But somehow it's ok that you do
it. But not us. Hog wash! That being Gay is more of a detriment to
society than killing thousands of innocent civilians in Iraq, or
helping an American child out of poverty. [Peterson, Carlene] I
think we also need to address all of these issues as well. No one has
forgotten them. We right wingers are also fighting these issues. That
someone's being gay PRECLUDES YOU from living a happy, productive,
fulfilled life if you so choose to.
I just don't understand the right-wing Christian ethics about
these issues. The funny (I should say SAD!) part is, you'd all be
rah-rah-ing Bush from your breadlines because of all the tax cuts he'd
rather give to the wealthiest Americans. [Peterson, Carlene] Again,
I think many right-wingers are speaking out against things they don't
agree with Bush about. We're not rah-rah-ing him in everything. I've
sent numerous e-mail to the White House about things I don't agree
with the Administration about. His big-business policies would leave
even you, the Christian right-wing, behind to fend for yourselves when
it comes to figuring out how you'll pay for medical bills for yourself
and your uninsured child to keep you well enough to attend church
whenever you wanted to.[Peterson, Carlene] Again, I've heard so many
news items about all of the medical facilities (especially in LA)
which have had to close because of all of the illegals getting free
healthcare. Let's start at ground 1 - and get rid of the illegals and
see how much money would be saved when we don't have to pay for
millions of illegals. Yes, let's have medical reform. I would
welcome that. We don't disagree on everything. I just think the way
we see of getting there may be different.
These are the big differences between us, I believe.[Peterson,
Carlene] Again I agree that we have many problems in our country.
Our views as to how address them are different. I still believe that
more of us little guys need to stand up and be counted - get our
politicians and law makers in line - get them out of office if they
will not represent our interests. Change will only come if we force
change. I think our world is now in the midst of those changes.
People are fed up with the status quo. We've been pushed around far
too long. We need to get some fresh blood in politics - not these old
geezers. Programs that worked in the 20's, 30's, 40's, need to be
re-evaluated for the 21st century. It should be fair for all of us.
As you said, there needs to be some clean up in River City! On this
we agree.

Subject: RE: Pictures From Iraq
I'm not "happy" about any war - but I am encouraged to see
good benefits from the sacrifice our military men and women make every
day. I think freedom and democracy are on the rise. I thank the
military and pray for them for the job they do. No one loves war.
Said all this before - any death in war is sad (whether it is on any
side), but I still believe that freedom is worth fighting for. As for
the attacks in Iraq and the middle east as a whole - death would be
going on whether we are there or not - just look at Israel. The
various factions kill one another. The dictators kill their own
people. But I still believe freedom is worth the fight. I think this
will make the entire world a safer place when the civilized people of
the world come together to combat tyranny.
Also, we have made mistakes time and time again in our country
throughout history. It is always hindsight that is 20/20. And also -
as we look back men like Abraham Lincoln are viewed very different
than they were in their own life time. I wonder how history (if we
are still around in 100 years) will view George W. Bush. I happen to
think you might be surprised what history will say about him. At the
very least - he stands his ground. I don't agree with everything he
does - but I agree more with him than someone like Al Gore or John
Kerry - who stands for nothing. He tosses to and fro with the wind.
