New York Comptroller Votes Pension Fund Shares In Sinclair Against Kerry Film
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/10/19/politics/main650030.shtml
(CBS/AP) Shareholders Tuesday challenged plans by media giant Sinclair
Broadcast to air a documentary critical of presidential candidate John
Kerry's anti-Vietnam War activities, warning that the controversy
surrounding the broadcast may hurt the value of their investment.
New York Comptroller Alan Hevesi sent a letter to Sinclair on behalf of the
state's pension fund, which he said owns shares in the broadcasting
company. San Diego attorney William S. Lerach also planned a teleconference
Tuesday afternoon to "discuss insider self-dealing by officers of Sinclair
Broadcasting."
And Media Matters, a media advocacy group announced that it was
underwriting the costs of a shareholder action, demanding that Sinclair
Broadcast Group, Inc., provide equal time to those with views opposed to
the allegations in the documentary.
A spokesman for Sinclair did not immediately answer phone calls from The
Associated Press for comment.
"Hehehehe...."
"Hehe..."
"Ok, let's sing it again..."
"Ok...."
"Give me that old time religion, give me that old time religion, give me
that old time religion, it's good enough for me...."
"Night, kids..."
"Night, Uncle Cheeseburger...."
Click.
"He knows all the good songs, doesn't he..."
"Yes, yes he does..."
"What's a 'share'...?"
"A Share is something people buy in a corporation that when the stock goes
up on Wolf Street or something, they make money..."
"Ok, but what's a 'Sinclair'...?"
"A Sinclair was a TV broadcasting corporation that reached about one-fourth
or something of all of American television sets..."
"Including the one that put out automatic SOS signals to that satellite...?"
"Yes, including that one...."
"What's a 'pension fund'....?"
"A Pension Fund is something people pay in to so when they retire they will
have some money to buy food and stuff..."
"Ok, yeah, but so why are they betting all that retirement etc on the Wolf
Street stocks and stuff...?"
"They only bet on sure stocks, so they always make money, and everybody's
happy forever..."
"Yeah, but what if Wolf Street crashed....?"
"They would still be happy. They are just very happy people...."
"Ok, but so what does the Sinclair have to do with the Kerry movie on TV
and why are the people who want to retire betting all their shares of the
corporation on Wolf Street and it's the only money they have to retire on
to begin with...?"
"Ok, lemme see if I can remember how Uncle Cheeseburger described
it... yeah, ok, Sinclair was from the Evil Empire that wanted to eat and
enslave everything on Earth and had superceded the line of whatever moral
and legal boundaries it was responsible toward in a corporation which
shares were also held by The Public Themselves, Kerry was a Democrat guy
trying to beat the demon from hell Bushwhack, and Sinclair wanted Kerry to
lose, so they going to put on this TV movie which wound up being no more
than a political statement right before presidential election day, and the
old people took all their money they had invested in Sinclair as owners,
sat it on the table, looked Sinclair in the eye and said "If I want
anything from you, I'll pull off your head and piss down your neck...".
"Oh...."
"Yeah...."
"Wow....."
"Yeah... hehe..."
"Hehehe.... So but Sinclair ran the movie anyway....?"
"Yes, yes they did... Even after a court order, the CEO's and all their
fledgling demonic pledges barricaded themselves inside the broadcasting
studio, pre-empted regular broadcasting time, aired the anti-Kerry movie
which The Republican Party produced anyway, and that's still one
contributing factor why they put these little glowing numbers in our arms
so they can track everyone all the time wherever we go... to keep
us... safe....."
"Oh...."
"Yeah....."
"Night, Jimi...."
"Night, Judi......"
The cricket begins to softly chirp in its cage......."
