[Mb-civic] Canada does not have an unlimited supply of drugs for
Americans.

Finally it has been brought to light. American's need for cheaper drugs is raising a concern in Canada.

Canadian suppliers to Americans do not want to short change Canadians!
Point being, Canada is not America's answerer for cheaper drugs for the financially challenged American seniors/pensioners etc...
What was pathetic is that Bush when questioned about Flu shots, said he would turn towards Canada for a supply.
He is against Canadians supplying Americans with necessary pharmaceutical drugs at a better price point, yet he wants our flu vaccines, because American manufactures are afraid of being sued for some reason? WHAT !!
My question is what is wrong with American pharmaceutical manufacturers, why are they are afraid of being sued?
According to American's, they are the best pharmaceutical manufactures in the world?
Canada has set an example as to health care conduct, but it is at the end of the day "a benefit for Canadians", Canadian tax payers, not American's searching for a better price, because they are being screwed by their own government!
I am really sorry to point this out, for there are so many, many Americans that are so very grateful that they can cross the boarder and buy their necessary/needed life saving drugs that they can not afford to buy in their own country. (And get Flu shots in Canadian clinics for pretty much nothing. The cost is covered by a Canadian Act that all foreigners can get flu shots to protect Canadians from foreign nationals who may visit et al)
Canadian medical/health care is best of class, a benchmark for other international communities, but it is being constantly prayed upon by American HMO's etc.. who are offering incredible amount$ of monie$ to Canadian medical professionals to go south and work there.
We are now being challenged to meet those same salary offers in order to keep our own medical professionals at home, and this is testing the Canadian healthcare system.
Canada is less than 1/10th of the American population, we cannot supply America's needs without hurting our own, no matter what the profession.
My hat is off to the Canadian professionals who turn down the American offers. It is a hard thing to do, to turn down a 500,000 - 1,000,000 plus US $ salary vs. 350,000 plus CDN $.
My hat goes off to Dr. Bell at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, a/the World leading Cancer Research Doctor who has turned down Millions to go to the US! (He is well compensated by the PMH, but it is not near to what he has been offered by US HMO's, private hospitals and/or clinics)
http://www.pmhf-uhn.ca/html/aboutus/aboutpmhf.asp " The largest radiation treatment centre in North America"
Canadian nurses "just out" of collage are offered $75,000 plus US to go to the USA vs. $55,000 plus CDN to stay in Canada, but what are the American nurses being paid? I do not know, all I know are the Canadian numbers, because we are losing so much talent to America.
(Apparently, Canadian and other foreign medical professionals are exempt from the usual American immigration rules)
PS the "plus" on top of the salaries are the benefits that are unaccountable.
No wonder American health care is so expensive and only for the privileged. Why can't America just train more of their own citizens or does that cost to much money, reason being the cost of professional education in America? There many, many Americans who are very capable, they just can not afford the education and then the debt if they do.
Later H , I'm getting into a rant and if I keep going I would if I could vote for Nader, cause he get's it, just can't do it and in trying takes the vote away from Kerry to get ride of Bush. What a SNAFU, eh!
(SNAFU, Situation Normal All Fucked Up, an American archaism from the Vietnam era)
Nader made a point about the debates, neither talked about an exit strategy to Iraq, addressed the real economic concerns about the middle class, the Israeli-Palestinian issue, or the on going selected corporate handouts/subsidies and most important universal health care!
Later H
