        Myth: 
               Bush loves Israel. Jews will vote for him because he loves Israel. He really, really, really loves Israel. 

             
       
        Reality: 
              It's conditional love.

              According to their interpretation of scripture, the "Conservative Christians" and "Evangelicals", believe that they need their "precious" Jews and they need Israel to stand. But examine why:

              At the core of their doctrine is that they believe that the Jews themselves brought on their own 2,000 years of persecution and the violence in Israel, because they broke the Mosaic convenant with God and didn't recognize Jesus as their savior. Combining random biblical verses with the entire Book of Revelations, they devoutly believe it says that Israel has to have a terrible and worsening war, a war in which the Arab nations must, by prophecy, be the enemy. Further they believe that when the Arabs have been beaten back and Israel is secure and flourishing, the Jews will be gathered in Israel "from the ends of earth"....and then, and then only, can Jesus return.

              However, if the Jews don't seize on this opportunity to finally accept Jesus as their saviour at this point, they'll be "cast alive into a lake of fire" and burnt to death.

              Conditional Love. 

                
       
          
        Consider the two choices. Either Bush believes what the "Conservative Christians" do (Ashcroft does) and needs Israel to flourish (as a means to an end), and the Jewish people to behave according to scripture...or else they are expendable. 
        Or he's using a code -I love Israel- to appeal to those voters who do believe Israel and the Jews are essential to the second coming of Christ. Either way he's probably figuring his message sounds good to Jewish voters.
